Banish Misfortune | solo guitar | 1944 Martin 00-17
Apologies I've not been uploading many videos the past few months. It's been a busy summer! Hopefully I can get back into the swing of things.
Anyway, here's a classic old Irish jig, Banish Misfortune, that I had the great fortune of recording with this old classic guitar, a 1944 Martin 00-17. It sure plays nice and has a great sound, though I'm not sure if the Shure Beta 58 fully captured it ;)

Beautiful playing. A silly non musician question: how do you decide where to play the chords? Does the tune itself suggest where to put them or do you just play them wherever you want?
Not a silly question at all. The fun of these solo arrangements is figuring out what chords to play and when and how to play them. Chord selection is determined by notes in the melody, musical convention with regards to harmonic motion, and simple pragmatism (what my fingers can comfortably reach). But yes, in the end I play them wherever I want 🙂. Thanks for listening! Glad you liked it!
